Summer Means The Flat Racings Back

Flat racing is considered by many to be the elite form of horse racing, without doubt, it’s flat racing that has evoked the phrase, ‘the sport of kings’. This elite section of horse racing, which evokes memories of some of the greatest race horses of all time, is held at some of the most prestigious and famous race courses in the world.

In England, the top four flat racing courses are without doubt, Epsom, Ascot, Goodwood and Newmarket. Newmarket is the headquarters of horse racing in the UK, it’s famous Rowley Mile course hosts the opening Classic races of the Flat Season, the 1,000 and 2,000 guineas, both held in early May. Both these races give punters the opportunity to test their know how against the bookies and no one gives your more opportunity to do that than Paddy Power, who are very fond of and generous with their Free Bet and Money Back offers.

June sees racing fans attention firmly focused on that other great race course, Epsom, home to the world wide famous Epsom Derby, the race is run over one and half miles on the first Saturday in June, it stands only second in popularity April’s Aintree Grand National. The girls will be out in force here, to show off the latest summer fashions on Ladies Day and the race even tempts those who are not particularly fans of horse racing to part with a shilling or two.

Following closely onto Epsom, later in June, comes perhaps the greatest fashion show of them all at Royal Ascot. Host to the five day Royal meeting, this is the race course where the great and good come to see and be seen. A favourite meeting of the The Queen and other members of the Royal family, it also offers a great opportunity to break out the strawberry and champagne picnics for those who attend. Many of flat racings top stars {horses and jockeys!} will be on show and will provide some great wagering opportunities for the rest of us.

July/August and it’s time to welcome the fabulous meeting that goes under the banner of ‘Glorious Goodwood’. With all the glamour, but little of the formality of Royal Ascot, Goodwood hosts over 100,000 racegoers every year. The emphasis is on fun for all the family at this meeting, plus the opportunity to watch some of the top races, which are: the Sussex Stakes odds, Totesport Mile odds, Richmond Stakes odds, the Nassau Stakes odds and the Steward Cup, with five days of first class action, fun all the way and plenty of top quality horses to place your bets on, if it’s Summer it must be Flat Racing!
